Saving Lives...Building Hope...Ending Violence...
The mission of Refuge House, Inc. is to provide direct services to battered women, their children and sexual assualt survivors, as well as to work to eliminate the conditions in society that allow such violence to continue.
Families come to Refuge House when they have no other safe housing option. Shelter can be provided for 50 women and children for up to 35 days. We recently opened our transistional housing wing in our shelter. We can now house four families for up to 2 years. While in shelter, residents participate in counseling, support groups and case management. Special activities are designed to help children begin the process of recovering from violence.
Families in shelter are provided with emergency foods, linens and other household items. Donations of these supplies are always welcome. For the safety and security of those at Refuge House, the location of the shelter is confidential. All Refuge House services are free and confidential.
